Choosing The Right Size Seat
Before you begin your bidet shopping fun, please do this necessary step if this is your first time. Skipping this step may lead to frustrations later when you discover the Bio Bidet bidet seat you bought is not a good fit. Worst case, you can’t even use it if your toilet is of a certain build.
But nothing complicated here; it is the same way you choose your replacement seat. It only takes one minute to find out if you should go for an elongated or round seat. Pretty straightforward. So grab your tape measure and follow these steps.
Step 1
Measure the bolt hole distance, center to center. The minimum has to be 5.5″ and up to 7.5″ max., and anything in between you are good to go.
Step 2
Measure from the center of the bolt hole to the front tip of the bowl. If the measurement is 16-1/16″ (408mm) or less, choose a round seat model. Anything after 16-1/16″ up to 18-1/16″ (459mm), go for the elongated seat model.
Step 3
Ensure you have a minimum distance of 1.5″ clearance between the bolt hole center and the tank. Anything short of the minimum distance will interfere with the full opening of the seat and cover. Or you won’t be able to mount the seat at all.
With the measurement obtain, compare with the model you are interested in and see how close it matches. If the length (bolt hole to bowl tip) is a bit short or long, you will get that little under or overhang. That’s OK as long as it sits sturdily on the bowl.
One final step, and this is crucial. If you have a one-piece toilet with a deep French curve connecting the tank and the bowl, the bidet seat might not fit properly. The issue is likely that the back of the seat is resting on the curve that obstructed access to the mounting holes.
Example of toilets with a French curve between the tank and bowl.
